By now, you’ve probably heard that Samsung is planning to release a pair of open-ear earbuds. The audio device, which has already appeared in multiple leaks over the past couple of months, has been referred to as both the Galaxy Buds On and the Galaxy Able (or Galaxy Buds Able). Now, a new set of images has cropped up, showing the design of the device yet again. Of course, the design has been leaked a few times already, but this may be the best look we have so far.
This leak originates from Android Headlines, which also claimed that the official name for the earbuds is the Galaxy Buds On. In one of these images, a model is shown wearing the device. It’s possible that this is marketing material for the buds, which suggests that a launch is close at hand. Meanwhile, a separate picture depicts the device on its own, albeit from a different angle. In any case, the clip-on design more or less matches the past pictures: a curved band connecting two rounded modules, with one side being wider than the other.
Aside from that, the publication reiterated a few details from previous leaks. Essentially, the device is rumoured to leverage open-ear air conduction, rather than bone conduction as the oldest rumours have claimed. That said, the outlet noted that it “cannot confirm” whether this will be the case.
Another supposed feature is support for head gestures such as nodding and shaking. Specifics on this capability are unclear, but it should be noted that the Galaxy Buds4 series debuted with it. So, we can expect a similar implementation here. Additionally, the upcoming buds should be able to automatically adjust playback volume depending on the environment. Users may also be able to trigger AI assistants like Gemini or Bixby. And finally, the buds might be able to detect when the wearer falls asleep and pause playback.
For now, Samsung has yet to make any mention of the earbuds, so these details remain unconfirmed at this point. The device is rumoured to launch in the fourth quarter of this year, so if the leaks are accurate, we may hear from an official source in the near future. Worth noting that the brand has new tablets in the works, so the buds could debut alongside them.
