After making a brief appearance on SIRIM, Samsung has officially announced that the Galaxy A08 is now available in Malaysia. While it isn’t as powerful as its flagship cousins, the South Korean tech giant claims that it is still capable of delivering fast and reliable performance and is even strong enough to handle some AI processes.
Needless to say, the new handset is the successor of the Galaxy A07 that debuted earlier this year. As such, there are a lot of similarities between the devices save for a few key areas.
Diving into the specs, the Galaxy A08 features a 6.7-inch HD+ LCD display with a 90Hz refresh rate. Meanwhile, the body has an IP64 dust and resistance rating, a 3.5mm headphone jack, and a fingerprint scanner.
While the outside of the phone didn’t seem to get any changes, Samsung decided to change things up on the inside by giving the Galaxy A08 a Helio G99+ chipset and an upgraded LPDDR5 memory. The company adds that RAM Plus “provides additional flexibility when more memory is needed”. In Malaysia, the phone only has one configuration, which is 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage.
Powering the device is a 6,000mAh battery, which Samsung claims can last a whole day of use. GSMArena writes that this cell can support 25W charging. As for OS, the publication says that the device runs on the company’s One UI 9, which is based on Android 17. On that note, the tech giant notes that the device is entitled to receive six generations of OS upgrades and six years of security updates, as well as Knox Vault protection.
In terms of imaging, the Galaxy A08 only has two rear cameras: a 50MP main camera and a 2MP depth camera. On the flipside, the device carries an 8MP snapper in a waterdrop cutout.
The Galaxy A08 is available in Malaysia now in three different hues, which are Green, Dark Blue, and Silver. The device is priced at RM899. Those interested can purchase the device via Samsung’s website.
