When POCO released the new generation of its X series, it skipped out on the base X8. Months after the launch, rumours of the missing model began to emerge, suggesting that it will see the light of day after all. Now, the Xiaomi sub-brand has confirmed that the phone is debuting in India soon. But more importantly, the SIRIM database has listed the device, so a local launch is in the cards as well.
As always, the entry doesn’t offer much information beyond the model number, which in the case of the X8 is 2607DPC18G, and its approval date. Apparently, the phone received its certification about a month ago, on 29 July 2026.
For more details on the device, we can look at what the company has shared thus far. In a recent X post, the brand revealed that the handset will pack a massive 9,000mAh battery, which can supposedly keep the lights on for 3.2 days. Now, this pretty much confirms a previous leak. That said, that particular leak claimed that while the Indian variant will come with a 9,000mAh battery, the rest of the world will get a smaller 8,340mAh cell.
Aside from that, the X8 is rumoured to be a rebadged REDMI Note 17 Pro. Specifically, the Chinese version of the device, and not the recently unveiled global model. So, we can probably expect the handset to feature a 6.83-inch AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate and 3,500 nits of peak brightness. Internally, it could pack a Snapdragon 6s Gen 4 chipset. On the imaging end, the phone is said to feature a 50MP main camera and a 2MP auxiliary lens.
Of course, leaks should be taken with a grain of salt, as these details have not been confirmed yet. We will know for sure once POCO officially releases the phone. While a local launch has not been announced yet, the handset will be making its debut in India next week, on 4 September 2026. It will be accompanied by the X8 Power, which boasts an even bigger 10,000mAh battery. It’s unclear whether this model will arrive on our shores, though.
