Tesla has announced the opening of a new V4 Supercharging station, this time in Ipoh, Perak. More specifically, this is located at AEON Mall Kinta City. The four-bay station is the 21st in the country, and is significant in one other way. The company calls it “the last connecting piece in Tesla’s regional Supercharging network – enabling seamless cross-country travel from Singapore through to Malaysia and Thailand, and vice versa”.
On that note, the company has previously announced that its EVs registered in all three countries can enjoy cross-country service and support coverage. This covers not only its Supercharger network, but also its Premium Connectivity services, as well as warranty and aftersales support. This means access to nine Service Centre and Service Express locations, 12 Tesla Approved Body Shops, as well as the company’s 24/7 service hotline.

In conjunction with the launch of this new Supercharging location, Tesla Malaysia says that charging here is free until 23 August. Being V4 Superchargers, this means charging rates of up to 250 kW, giving Model 3 and Model Y EVs up to 311km in 15 minutes. It’s worth mentioning that these chargers are still exclusive to Tesla EVs, as the company has only opened up select Supercharger sites within the Klang Valley to electric cars of other brands. These locations are i-City Finance Avenue in Shah Alam, Pavilion KL, IOI City Mall Putrajaya, and Gamuda Cove in Dengkil, specifically.
But back to the new Supercharging station at AEON Mall Kinta City. For the unfamiliar, this is located at 2, Jalan Teh Lean Swee, Off Jalan Sultan Azlan Shah Utara, 31400 Ipoh, Perak. You could probably take a walk within the mall as you wait for your Tesla to charge up, but with the 250 kW charging, it will likely be a short one.
