Last week, Huawei announced that it is bringing the Watch GT 7 lineup to Malaysia. And just as promised, the wearables have made their official debut in the local market. Succeeding last year’s Watch GT 6 series, the new models come with a familiar look, albeit with some tweaks. Among the updates is the new EasyCross Strap with a tuck-under design for a secure fit.
A key addition to the lineup is the Diabetes Risk Study, which debuted with the Watch Fit 5 Pro. It leverages pulse-wave signals collected by the watch’s PPG sensor and details like the wearer’s age, gender, height, and weight to determine their potential diabetes risk. This does require the user to wear the device for around three to 14 days continuously. Other highlights include a new Physical Readiness Score that evaluates factors like recovery, heart rate variability, sleep, activity, and emotional wellbeing.
As for workout features, Huawei has updated the AI-XDR Positioning for more accurate route tracking during outdoor activities. According to the brand, the wearables can maintain tracking continuity even in areas with limited GPS signals. Additionally, Smart Route Reconstruction estimates and restores sections without coverage.
Watch GT 7
Like the previous generation, the vanilla version comes in 41mm and 46mm sizes. The former is available in Pink, Blue, White, and Grey colourways, while those interested in the latter can choose between Yellow, Blue, and Black. Both variants feature an AMOLED display with a 466 x 466 pixel resolution and 3,000 nits of peak brightness. Of course, the size of said screen differs, with the smaller model getting a 1.32-inch panel. Meanwhile, the bigger sibling sports a 1.47-inch screen. Rounding things off are IP69 and 5 ATM ratings.
Internally, the watch comes with sensors that can measure heart rate and skin temperature. As mentioned earlier, its new health features include the Diabetes Risk Study and the Physical Readiness Score. Beyond that, users can benefit from morning briefings, Emotional Wellbeing 2.0, sleep and women’s health tracking, as well as other tools available via the Huawei Health app.
In terms of sports features, the watch offers tools for trail running and hiking, such as advanced trail metrics, Segment Navigation, Route Back, offline maps, and GPX route import. Strava integration is on board for easier tracking and sharing. For cycling, users have access to Climb Planning, Climb Broadcast, and Sharp Turn Alerts. The device also includes support for indoor and outdoor skiing, with maps for more than 3,000 ski resorts worldwide. Dedicated modes for racket sports are also available.
Battery life depends on the watch size. For the smaller model, users can get up to 14 days of use, while the bigger version can last up to 21 days.
Watch GT 7 Pro
The Pro variant comes in a single 46mm size and comes in Yellow, Green, and Black finishes. Regardless of colour, the wearable sports a nano-tech ceramic bezel, which gets paired with an aerospace-grade titanium alloy frame and sapphire glass. It sports a 1.47-inch AMOLED screen with a 466 x 466 pixel resolution and 3,000 nits of peak brightness. Like its vanilla counterpart, the device comes with IP69 and 5 ATM ratings.
For health features, it gets all the tools available on the regular Watch GT 7, but steps things up a notch with ECG functionality and Arterial Stiffness Assessment. Likewise, the wearable is equipped with the same sports features, with some added bonuses. These include advanced golf features such as Plays-like Distance and Shot Distance tracking. It also comes with support for freediving up to 40m.
As for battery life, the Pro can offer a maximum of 21 days. Other features include support for Touch ‘n Go QR payments and compatibility with both Android and iOS. Of course, these apply to the base model as well.
Availability And Pricing
The Huawei Watch GT 7 series is currently available for purchase via the brand’s official online platforms, including Shopee, Lazada, and TikTok Shop. Alternatively, customers can head over to the company’s physical stores. The vanilla Watch GT 7 is priced at RM1,199, while its Pro sibling retails for RM1,499.
In conjunction with the launch, the company is offering an exclusive RM100 rebate for those purchasing either watch. This offer will be valid until 31 October 2026. So, during this time, the base and Pro models will be priced at RM1,099 and RM1,399 respectively. Additionally, those getting the devices through SPayLater can get a 10% discount. And as previously revealed, free goodies worth up to RM713 are also up for grabs.
