It was a bit odd to see the vivo V80 Lite launch before the base model, but that’s what happened with this generation of the brand’s V series of phones. That’s not to say that the base model hasn’t already made appearances here and there around the internet. But more recently the brand has started teasing its upcoming launch, albeit for the Indian market.
The official account for the country has posted a few teasers via its X account, including a few colour options, but more importantly, a launch date for the phone. As a result, we now know that the vivo V80 will be launching on 6 October, at least in said market. Another interesting detail in the teasers points to the phone running OriginOS 7, a new version of the brand’s Android overlay.
Going through what we’ve heard so far, several leaksters have made claims about the battery of the vivo V80. One claim was that it would pack a 7,200 mAh battery, as well as a charging rate of 80W. 91mobiles reports that the company has confirmed the capacity of the battery, for what it’s worth. It is said to be a pretty “creator-focused” device at that, with a 50MP main and 50MP telephoto pair, with support for 4K and 240fps video recording. The aforementioned report also makes mention of “over 30 AI-powered creative features”.
The report speculates that, when the vivo V80 launches in the Indian market, it may be priced over INR55,000 (~RM2,346). No word on when it will arrive on our shores yet, but since the phone is already in the SIRIM database, it’s more a question of when rather than if. Its price range, though, remains up in the air. For context, the preceding V70 had a starting price of RM1,999.
