vivo launched the V80 Lite as the newest addition to its V series fairly recently. Now, it looks like the Chinese phone maker is preparing to release another member in the lineup soon. The vanilla V80 has cropped up on the SIRIM database, suggesting that a local launch is happening sometime in the near future.
As seen in the listing, the phone carries the model number V2648 and received approval last week on 9 September 2026. The same device also appeared on Thailand’s NBTC database, so it seems a global launch isn’t too far ahead. That said, these entries don’t offer much detail on the upcoming handset. As always, though, one can count on leaks to fill in the blanks.
Over on X, tipster @yabhishekhd claimed that the smartphone will feature a 6.8-inch AMOLED display. This would make the screen a bit bigger than that of the V80’s predecessor. Under the hood, the device is rumoured to come with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 chipset.
Furthermore, the phone is expected to come with the largest battery in the V series thus far. Apparently, this will be a 7,200mAh battery with support for 90W wired charging. A separate post by @ZionsAnvin asserted that this cell can keep the device powered for up to two days, though this may be par for the course at this point. In any case, the V70 launched with a 6,500mAh battery, so this would be a notable upgrade. For software, the V80 will probably run on Android 17 via OriginOS 7.
On the photography end, the phone will supposedly feature a 50MP main camera and a 50MP telephoto lens. No further information on the imaging hardware has been revealed, but it’s possible that the phone will retain the 8MP ultra-wide shooter and 50MP front sensor. This is, of course, speculation at this point. The phone is also rumoured to support 4K video recording at 240fps.
Beyond that, the leaks point to some new “creator-focused” camera and editing functions. An “AI Creative Camera” with over 30 AI effects is expected to be on board, along with a Live Sticker Collage feature. Then, there is the AI Diwali Portrait 2.0, although this will likely be a tool exclusive to the Indian market.
As always, though, these leaks should be taken with a grain of salt. Currently, vivo has yet to disclose any details on the V80. If the rumours prove accurate, though, it may not be a long wait until we hear from the brand directly.
