Huawei had just recently hosted a new major launch event where it debuted its newest smartwatch in the form of the Watch D3. However, that isn’t the only wearable the company debuted, as it has also introduced the Watch 6 series to the global market.
Now, what makes this year’s entry different from the last is that the company has officially introduced a new Pro model to go alongside the standard version. The standard version comes in 42mm and 46mm sizes in either an aluminium alloy or stainless steel case. Meanwhile, the Pro comes in 43mm and 46mm sizes and features a titanium alloy case. It’s worth pointing out that the 43mm is available in a standard white colour or a special ceramic design.
Specs-wise, the Watch 6 and 6 Pro use 1.38-inch and 1.5-inch LTPO 2.0 AMOLED displays for their 42mm/43mm and 46mm variants, respectively. Regardless of the size of the watch, the screens have a pixel resolution of 466 x 466 and a peak brightness of 3,500 nits.
Unfortunately, the company did not detail the battery capacity of either wearable on its website. Instead, it claims that the Watch 6 42mm and Watch 6 Pro 43mm can last an average of three days with typical use and up to seven days with battery saver mode on. The 46mm variant, regardless if it’s Pro or non-Pro, lasts marginally longer, as the company promises that it’s good for four and a half days of standard use all the way to 11 days with battery saver mode.
Much like its predecessor, the Watch 6 series features X-TAP technology. For those who aren’t familiar with it, it is a combination of an ECG monitor, a 12-channel PPG sensor, and a pressure sensor for accurate on-demand health readings.
Huawei is also introducing a new “physical Readiness” feature, which can help assess the user’s body the moment they open their eyes, or so the company claims. It can also help them plan their day accordingly while also helping them “strike the right balance between work and rest”. Then there’s the “Health insight” and “Healthy Living”, which help monitor daily habits while ensuring that the user is taking care of themselves.
Other features include a quick flip gesture control, two phones pairing, eSIM capability, and Safety Check features for location sharing. There are also NFC payment methods, a golf mode, the Expedition app, and an AI workout analysis chart.
It’s worth pointing out that, while the company has officially launched the Watch 6 series, Huawei has yet to announce the price of either model, let alone when they will be available. At the time of writing, the watch is only listed at Huawei Global’s website; it has yet to make an appearance on Huawei Malaysia’s website or social media and in SIRIM’s database.
