After months of discussion and speculation, Xiaomi has confirmed that the REDMI Note 17 Series will launch globally on 27 August. The company is expected to debut three different models, but a recent X post confirmed that the global arm of the company plans to launch a new Pro Max model alongside it.
As a brief refresher, the REDMI Note 17 Series made its debut in China last month with two distinct models. These models are the standard REDMI Note 17 5G and the REDMI Note 17 Pro. In addition to the Pro Max, the company is expected to debut the REDMI Note 17 4G as well.
While the phone itself is new, its arrival shouldn’t come as much of a surprise. After all, the upcoming model previously appeared in an Amazon listing ahead of its official unveiling. In any case, the Pro Max is believed to be the successor to the REDMI Note 15 Pro+.
As for its specs, Xiaomi says that the REDMI Note 17 Pro Max will pack a massive 10,000mAh battery. In a separate post, the company also confirmed that it will support 100W fast charging.
Meanwhile, on its official website, Xiaomi says the phone has a three-metre drop resistance, as well as IP66/IP68/IP69/IP69K dust and water resistance. The website also mentions up to 24GB RAM, a 6.83″ 1.5K CrystalRes AMOLED display, and a Snapdragon 6 Gen 5 SoC. Unfortunately, the company didn’t reveal much beyond that at the time of writing.
Before we wrap up, we should also mention that we couldn’t find the REDMI Note 17 Pro Max listed on SIRIM’s database at the time of writing. As such, it remains unclear whether the specific model will be available in Malaysia. That said, considering that the launch is slated for 27 August, it’s only a matter of time before Xiaomi reveals more details about the device.
