Following a few unofficial appearances, the DJI Osmo 360 II has made its debut in China. The sequel to the drone maker’s first 360-degree camera retains the familiar compact build, as already seen in prior leaks. That said, the new model introduces a selection of improvements and enhancements.
To start, the device has adopted an interchangeable lens system. This means that users will be able to replace scratched or broken lenses on their own. Said lenses also feature an ultra-hard optical film for better scratch and wear resistance.
As for the camera’s imaging features, it comes with dual 1/1.1-inch square CMOS sensors. According to the company, these sensors can attain up to 14.5 stops of dynamic range, up from 13.5 stops on the device’s predecessor. However, the maximum dynamic range in D-Log M remains at 13.5.
Furthermore, the Osmo 360 II can record 8K panoramic video at 60fps. Additionally, the AI SuperNight 2.0 noise reduction system enables improved performance in low light conditions. Aside from that, the camera is capable of capturing 4K at 240fps for slow-motion footage. Meanwhile, single lens mode can record 4K video at 120fps. Finally, the camera supports 16K time-lapse recordings. As for stills, it can snap 120MP HDR photos.
Additionally, the device comes with AI-driven tracking features. This allows it to keep subjects at the centre of the frame, even when the camera rotates and changes direction.
On board the Osmo 360 II is a bigger 2,150mAh battery, although this doesn’t seem to translate to a longer life. As detailed on the product page, the battery allows the camera to record up to 100 minutes of 8K footage at 30fps. The camera also comes with 105GB of built-in storage.
Other features include a bidirectional magnetic mount design and NFC Quick Connect for easier setup. Like its precursor, the new model is waterproof up to 10m. This depth rating gets stretched to 50m with the waterproof case, allowing for underwater shots.
In China, the DJI Osmo 360 II has a starting price of CNY3,299 (~RM1,999). For now, the brand has yet to disclose details on a global release. However, the camera has been listed on the SIRIM database since last month, so it shouldn’t be too long before a local launch.
