Shopee users in Malaysia can now pay for their purchases using TNG eWallet, fulfilling a long-requested feature. However, there is a catch: the payment option is only available through DuitNow QR.
Interestingly, the e-commerce platform still lists Touch ‘n Go and even Boost e-wallets as unsupported payment methods. The new DuitNow QR option therefore gives TNG eWallet users a way to pay on Shopee indirectly through Malaysia’s national QR payment standard.
How To Pay Using TNG eWallet Via DuitNow QR
First, select DuitNow QR under the payment options before placing your order. A QR code will then be generated, which can be saved and opened in the TNG eWallet app, or scanned directly using the app’s Universal Scan feature.
Once the QR code is scanned, TNG eWallet will display the payment amount and Shopee Marketplace as the merchant. Users can then confirm the transaction to complete their purchase.
Granted, this isn’t the most direct approach, but it’s a start.

TNG eWallet Cashback Programme
The DuitNow QR option also opens up the possibility of earning cashback through TNG eWallet’s Shop & Earn programme. Eligible purchases currently earn 1% cashback, capped at RM6.67 per order, although users need to enter Shopee through the Shop & Earn page before making their purchase.
Cashback is typically tracked within two days and confirmed within 14 days. However, TNG Digital notes that a number of purchases are excluded, including digital goods, telco and utility payments, vouchers, travel, donations, cinema and event purchases, local services, investments and ShopeePay Near Me transactions.
Shopee LIVE products, streaming-priced items and purchases made using promo codes or vouchers that are not featured on the Shop & Earn platform are also excluded. Fees, taxes, service charges, shipping and delivery costs likewise do not qualify for cashback.

What Other Payment Methods Does Shopee Malaysia Support?
Apart from this new addition, other payment options offered by Shopee include its own SPay e-wallet platform, cash payment at physical stores, cash-on-delivery (COD), credit/debit cards, online banking, Google Pay, and Apple Pay.
For online banking specifically, Shopee supports channels from banks including Maybank, CIMB, RHB, Public Bank, Hong Leong Bank, HSBC, Bank Islam, Bank Rakyat, OCBC, UOB and others. Shopee also supports instalment payments through eligible credit cards, as well as via its own first-party SPayLater buy-now-pay-later option for eligible users.
