Last month, the Redmi 17 made a couple of appearances in SIRIM. The first to show up was the 5G model, with the 4G version appearing at the end of the month. Now, both are available on Shopee, listed by the Xiaomi Official Store. The former even comes with two storage options, bringing the total possible configurations to three. Either way though, the phone is stuck with 4GB of memory.
Beyond their chipsets which determine the connectivity standard they support, both versions of the Redmi 17 are essentially identical. Both share a 6.9-inch 120Hz display with a layer of Corning Gorilla Glass 7i, a 7,500 mAh battery that supports 45W charging as well as 22.5W reverse charging, and a 50MP “AI dual camera system”. No specifics on which is the main camera or the nature of the second camera though. Instead, the brand highlights the Dynamic RGB Light ring that not only serves as the camera flash, but also multiple notifications depending on which colour it shows you.
As for what sets the two apart, the 4G model of the Redmi 17 packs a MediaTek Helio G91- Ultra, while the 5G model has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 4 Gen 5 instead. Technically, colour options could also be used to tell the two versions of the phone apart. Both look to share a black colourway, but the 4G model has Green and Purple as its other options, while the 5G one has Orange and Blue instead.
With all of that out of the way, the Redmi 17 4G comes with 4GB of RAM, 128GB of storage, and a price tag of RM699. As mentioned, the 5G model has two configurations, one being 4GB + 128GB, and the other being 4GB + 256GB. These are priced at RM799 and RM899 respectively. All three are available via the Xiaomi Official Store on Shopee.
