We previously reported how Xiaomi plans to launch its Pad 9 tablet in the global market. While the company hasn’t confirmed anything about the device’s international availability at the time of writing, it did confirm that the lineup will have a higher-end sibling in the form of the Pad 9 Pro Max.
The device in question was revealed through a major teaser posted on Weibo, which also revealed some of the device’s specifications. The poster was none other than Lu Weibing, partner and president of Xiaomi Corporation and president of its smartphone department. Based on the teaser, the company is positioning the upcoming flagship tablet as a versatile device that can work with a wide range of setups.
Specs-wise, the tablet has a 13.3-inch 3.4K display with a 3:2 aspect ratio. Xiaomi claims it can reach a peak brightness of 1,000 nits, with a Delta E of around 0.47.
While the company did not mention it explicitly in the post, the tablet will be powered by the XRING O3 processor alongside LPDDR6 memory. In a separate Weibo post, Weibing claims that the SoC achieved an AnTuTu V11 score of 5.25 million, while its multi-core CPU and GPU performance are comparable to tablets using Apple’s M5 processor.
Weibing said that the Pad 9 Pro Max also comes with a full-featured USB Type-C connection that allows the tablet to connect directly to a PC and operate as a secondary display. The same connection can also be used with gaming handhelds, allowing them to use the tablet as a larger display. Outside of wired connections, Xiaomi says it is also compatible with the Focus Stylus Pro and TourBox controller, which can be used simultaneously for digital art and other creative tasks.
It’s also worth noting that the Pad 9 Pro Max will run on Xiaomi’s HyperOS 4. According to Weibing in a separate post, the OS will introduce several PC-oriented features, including third-party AI plugin support for its browser, Xiaomi Notes improvements, and multitasking that supports up to six apps at once. Or at least that’s what the machine translation of the post said.
It should come as no surprise that the company has yet to reveal the device’s price and potential configurations. However, Weibing did confirm that it will launch the device in China today, 7 September, at 7PM. It is expected to launch alongside a matching floating keyboard.
Unfortunately, we still do not know if or when the device will come to international markets at the time of writing. There is a possibility that Xiaomi could eventually launch the device alongside the base Pad 9. However, the company has yet to confirm any plans, so take that information with a grain of salt.
