GWM Malaysia has opened the order books for the new Ora 5 HEV in Malaysia, with the hybrid SUV carrying an estimated price of RM115,000. The company says its finalised pricing and full specifications will only be announced when the model officially launches in November.
The Ora 5 HEV was first previewed locally at KLIMS 2026 in June, where GWM Malaysia positioned it as a compact urban crossover. The local-spec model measures 4,471mm long, 1,833mm wide and 1,641mm tall, with a 2,720mm wheelbase.
At the time of its Malaysian preview, GWM said the Ora 5 HEV would use its Hi2 hybrid system, combining a petrol engine with an electrified powertrain to produce a claimed 223PS and 476Nm. It was also quoted as being capable of accelerating from 0-100km/h in 7.7 seconds while returning fuel consumption of 4.4 litres per 100km.
GWM Malaysia also claimed a total driving range of more than 1,100km from a full tank and battery charge. However, these figures were provided during the model’s preview and should not be taken as the final Malaysian specifications until the launch takes place.
As its name suggests, the model launching in Malaysia is the hybrid version of the Ora 5. An all-electric variant debuted in China in September 2025, powered by a 150kW electric motor and an LFP battery, but there is currently no indication from GWM Malaysia that it plans to bring the Ora 5 BEV to our market.
