After weeks of teasing, Sennheiser has officially launched its new Momentum 5 series in Malaysia. For your reference, the lineup consists of the Momentum 5 Wireless over-ear headphones, the Momentum True Wireless 5 TWS in-ears, and the Accentum Clip clip-on earbuds.
Momentum 5 Wireless
Starting with the flagship product, the Momentum 5 Wireless uses the same 42mm transducers from its predecessor, the Momentum 4. It’s worth pointing out that the design is also somewhat the same. According to the company, these drivers are capable of delivering a deeper bass and a “full-bodied sound”. Speaking of sound, users can dial their preference with an 8-band EQ setting.
The Momentum 5 Wireless comes with eight microphones, four on each side, for better ANC and transparency modes. Sennheiser claims that its user-replaceable 700mAh battery is good for 57 hours even with ANC on.
For connectivity, the headphones can pair to other devices with Bluetooth 5.4 out of the box. That said, the brand said that it is ready for Bluetooth 6.0 via a future firmware release. Users can also enjoy a wired connection thanks to an included 3.5mm analogue audio cable
Momentum True Wireless 5
Next up, we have the company’s TWS in-ears. Unlike its over-ears sibling, Sennheiser says that the Momentum True Wireless 5 has a completely new design compared to the previous generation. The design features leverage a set of six microphones and two bone-conduction accelerometers, which are paired with an AI speech-extraction algorithm. This new design also allows users to replace the device’s batteries.
Under the hood, it features 7mm TrueResponse dynamic drivers, which the company says can recreate “remarkable detail” while also delivering a “full-bodied” experience. Oh, keep in mind that these buds also have an 8-band EQ setting via the mobile app. The buds have a hybrid ANC system that is powered by a four-microphone array. It’s also worth pointing out that the device has been optimised for Dolby Atmos head-tracking.
For battery life, the bud can provide 12 hours of continuous playback on a single charge, while the charging cradle extends this further to a maximum of up to 40 hours if the ANC feature is off. This figure drops six and 25 hours, respectively, if the feature is on. As the name suggests, it connects wirelessly via Bluetooth 6.0. It also features aptX Adaptive and aptX Lossless codec support.
The Momentum True Wireless 5 is priced at RM1,699. It comes in Graphite, Cream, Graphite, Copper, Denim, and Lavender colourways.
Accentum Clip
Last but not least is the Accentum Clip. As its name suggests, it is the Sennheiser’s open-ear clip-on design meant for situational awareness. Though it is quite petite in stature, Sennheiser claims that its 12mm dynamic driver can still provide a punchy bass alongside a smooth treble. However, unlike the other two, this audio product only supports a 5-band EQ.
Per the company, the Accentum Clip can last for up to 9 hours on a single use. This goes up to a total of 36 hours with the included charging case. Since this is an open-ear design, it doesn’t have any form of ANC. What it does have are Bluetooth 6.0, a dual-microphone system that is paired with AI algorithms, and support for SBC, AAC, and LDAC codecs.
