Earlier in the month, we saw teasers for what looks like a Harry Potter Edition for the realme 16 Pro. Today, the brand has officially revealed the special edition phone, and it looks like the tie-in comes with a pair of TWS buds as well. More specifically, it’s the realme Buds T500 Pro. Unfortunately, both of them come with a massive premium on top of their regular prices thanks to the licensing deal.
The phone itself is mostly the same as the vanilla version of the 16 Pro. There’s no choice in storage space here, as the only option is the 512GB model. But in case you need a refresher, the phone comes with 6.78-inch Full HD+ 144 Hz AMOLED display, with support for 240 Hz sampling rate. Inside, there’s a MediaTek Dimensity 7300 Max chipset, 12GB of RAM, and the aforementioned 512GB of storage space. Its battery is rated at 7,000 mAh, with support for 80W charging.

For its cameras, the realme 16 Pro has a 200MP + 8MP pair at the back, and a 50MP secondary snapper in front. It runs realme UI 7.0 out of the box with some unique UI touches, and the phone also has an IP69 rating. Naturally, with the Harry Potter special edition, you get the Hogwarts school crest with the four houses. The brand has also confirmed that it features what it calls the Quadra Light-Sensing Colour-Changing tech, letting the crest change colours under sunlight, with the four houses showing their own colours. It’s arguably a better implementation than what was on the Game of Thrones edition realme 15 Pro.

As mentioned, the realme Buds T500 Pro has also gotten the Harry Potter Edition treatment. These feature 12.4mm titanium drivers and Hi-Res Audio certification, plus LDHC 5.0 codec support. The buds have a battery life of up to 13.5 hours on their own, and up to 56 hours with their case, but only with ANC off and not using the aforementioned LDHC codec. Use both, and the figures go down to 5.5 and 23 hours respectively.
To reiterate, both the realme 16 Pro and Buds T500 Pro have their prices increased as part of getting the Harry Potter Edition treatment. The former has gone from RM1,899 to RM2,699, while the latter has gone from RM199 to RM399. As before, you can get these via the brand’s online stores on Shopee, Lazada and TikTok Shop. The brand also has a pop-up in conjunction with the special edition phone’s launch at the Blue Concourse of Sunway Pyramid until 29 September.

Making up for the increased prices, at least for the phone, is that it comes with an appropriately-themed box – a 1:1 replica of Harry’s trunk, with a Hogwarts acceptance letter, a Platform 9 3/4 train ticket, bookmarks for each of the houses, character postcards, and a phone case with the school crest. The earbuds also get a special colourway with the crest on the charging case, and another case that you can wear like a small crossbody bag.
