Last year, realme announced a Game of Thrones limited edition version of its 15 Pro. As far as special editions go, it’s pretty out of season, as the HBO show ended a good six years prior. Either way, it looks like the OPPO sub-brand is starting a streak of special editions that’s vaguely Medieval European in aesthetic, this time with a slightly more topical IP in the form of Harry Potter.
A teaser image to the effect has been posted on the Mobiles category of Flipkart’s home page, with the image itself not being hyperlinked to a specific campaign page of its own. The image also doesn’t specifically mention the Harry Potter IP, though what’s in it helps with evoking the brand, with the three vintage suitcases on a luggage trolley, and the font used for the text “Let the magic begin”. There’s also “coming soon” immediately after, as well as the realme branding on the top left corner.
Separately, Gizmochina shared what is claimed to be a render of the realme 16 Pro Harry Potter Edition that had appeared online. The report does not cite its source for the image, but 91mobiles notes that it was initially shared by Indian influencer Sudhanshu Ambhore before it was taken down. Either way, the camera island on the phone is indeed indicative of the realme 16 Pro, with the Hogwarts badge right in the middle, followed by the Harry Potter and realme brandings.
The report also claims that this Harry Potter edition of the phone will show up in its base memory and storage configuration, which is 12GB + 256GB. But for now, a lot remains unknown about this supposed limited edition device, including if it will come with its own range of unique accessories, what sort of premium it will command over the standard model, or even when it will be officially announced.
