Lenovo has officially unveiled the IdeaPad Vibe, a new range of affordable productivity laptops that appears to be aimed squarely at devices such as Apple’s MacBook Neo and Dell’s XPS 13. The laptops made their official debut at IFA 2026, bringing a colourful design alongside a surprisingly flexible selection of hardware.
The IdeaPad Vibe first caught our attention last month when leaked images revealed a minimalist laptop with seven colour options and a generous selection of ports. At the time, details were limited, although the leak suggested that Lenovo would offer both AMD and Qualcomm-powered versions using the same basic chassis.
Plenty Of Choice In A Slim Chassis
The IdeaPad Vibe will be available in 14- and 15-inch sizes, with colour options including Dreamy Violet, Spicy Gold, Zen Green, Chill Blue, Radiant Coral, Moody Blue and Lowkey Gray. Lenovo has also added customisable keycaps, allowing users to either match the keyboard to the chassis or create a contrasting look.
The budget-friendly laptop series has a slim profile measuring as little as 14.9mm thick. The 14-inch model starts at 1.3kg, while the 15-inch version starts at 1.5kg.
The Vibe is also considerably better equipped in terms of connectivity than Apple’s MacBook Neo. It has two USB-A ports, two USB-C ports, a full-size HDMI connector, a 3.5mm audio jack and a microSD card reader, reducing the need for dongles and adapters.
Display options include panels with refresh rates of up to 120Hz, with OLED available on select configurations. The laptops also feature dual 2W speakers and a 5MP webcam with Windows Hello support and a physical privacy shutter.
Under the hood, buyers can choose between Qualcomm’s Snapdragon X platform and AMD’s Ryzen AI 400 series. The Qualcomm versions support up to 24GB of RAM, while AMD configurations can go up to 32GB, with storage reaching 1TB. Both variants also feature dual M.2 SSD slots, providing some room for future storage expansion. Battery-wise, the AMD models are offered with either a 50Wh or larger 65Wh battery, giving buyers another option depending on their priorities.
One thing to keep in mind is the amount of RAM on the entry-level models. While Lenovo has not highlighted the base configuration in its announcement, reports indicate that the cheapest models are expected to start with 8GB, which could become a limitation over time. Spending a little more for 16GB or higher would likely be worthwhile, while the AMD versions may be the more versatile choice for users who prioritise software compatibility.
Pricing And Availability
The Lenovo IdeaPad Vibe will start at US$700 (~RM2,827) for the US market, with the AMD-powered models arriving first in October 2026. Qualcomm Snapdragon X versions will follow in November, while Intel-powered variants are planned for a later date. For Malaysia, Lenovo has yet to confirm whether the IdeaPad Vibe will be officially released here.
