RedMagic launched the Astra 2 globally last month following its initial debut in China. Now, the local arm of the brand has announced the gaming tablet for the Malaysian market. Of course, given that the device has already been out for some time, its specifications aren’t really a secret.
To recap, the tablet features a 9.06-inch 2K (2,400 x 1,504) OLED display with a refresh rate of 185Hz and 1,600 nits of peak brightness. This panel offers an instantaneous touch sampling rate of up to 2,000Hz and SGS-certified low blue light protection. In the typical RedMagic fashion, the display features no cutouts, allowing for an uninterrupted viewing experience. For protection, the device comes with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 and an IP54 rating for dust and splash resistance.
Internally, the tablet packs a Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor, which gets paired with the nubia sub-brand’s own RedCore R4 gaming chip to deliver improved visuals while also managing power. Meanwhile, memory goes up to 16GB, and users can get a maximum of 512GB of storage. Keeping the lights on is an 8,300mAh dual-cell battery, which supports 75W charging. According to the company, the tablet takes an hour to charge to full.
One of the device’s highlights is the AquaCore Cooling System 2.0, which combines liquid cooling with a vapour chamber. Part of this system can be seen on the back of the tablet, thanks to a transparent panel. The rear panel also sports RGB lighting, but that’s to be expected at this point.
On the software side, the device runs on Android 16 via RedMagic OS 11.5. As for photography, you get a 13MP rear camera, plus a 9MP front camera hidden under the display. Other features include dual stereo speakers and a customisable Magic Key.
In Malaysia, the RedMagic Astra 2 comes in two colourways: Black Eclipse and Starfrost. Regardless of colour, the 12GB+256GB model is priced at RM3,599, while the 16GB+512GB version retails for RM4,399. Sales for the tablet begin on 8 September 2026 at 8PM, so those interested can get a hold of it via the brand’s official website and Shopee store then. As part of the launch promotion, customers can get a free screen protector, a magnetic cooling case, and the CMF Buds 2a. This offer will run until 30 September 2026.
