POCO has announced a selection of new smartphones for the local market. Alongside the flagship F8 series, the brand unveiled the base X8. The device serves as the latest addition to the X8 series, which launched earlier this year.
The phone features a 6.83-inch AMOLED display protected with Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2. This panel offers a 2,772 x 1,280 pixel resolution, a 120Hz refresh rate, and 3,500 nits of peak brightness. Additionally, the handset comes with dual speakers with Dolby Atmos, an under-display fingerprint sensor, as well as IP66, IP68, IP69, and IP69K ratings for dust and water resistance. A notable feature is the new Underwater Mode, which does what it says on the tin. With this feature, users can capture photos when in the water.

Under the hood, the handset packs a Qualcomm Snapdragon 6s Gen 4 chipset, paired with up to 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. Keeping the lights on is an 8,340mAh silicon-carbon battery with support for 67W wired charging and 22.5W reverse charging. For software, the handset runs on Android 16 via HyperOS 3 right out of the box. Meanwhile, connectivity features include WiFi 5, 5G, Bluetooth 5.1, and NFC.
On the imaging end, the phone features a 50MP main camera paired with a 2MP depth camera. For the selfie enthusiasts, the front houses a 16MP sensor.
The POCO X8 comes in three colourways: White, Black, and Orange. In Malaysia, the device has a starting price of RM1,499 for the 8GB + 256GB model. There is also a 12GB + 256GB variant, which goes for RM1,699.

That said, customers can get the phones at a discount starting 9 September 2026. From that day, the 8GB variant will retail for RM1,299, while the 12GB model will be available for RM1,499. As usual, those interested in the device can head over to the Mi online store, as well as the brand’s stores on Shopee, Lazada, and TikTok Shop.
