U Mobile has officially launched its new 5G home broadband service, the ULTRA Home 5G Pro, in Malaysia. The service offers speeds of up to 2Gbps, alongside 8×8 MIMO 5G-Advanced (5G-A) broadband, AI-Powered Game Turbo, and an ULTRA Performance WiFi 7 5G-A router.
According to the press release, the new service is designed for increasingly connected households with multiple devices, as well as users seeking faster speeds and more responsive online gaming without relying on a fixed fibre installation. In addition to providing, the company claims that the service can deliver double the speed of existing 5G home broadband services that utilise 4×4 MIMO technology.
As noted earlier, the service relies on 8×8 MIMO 5G-A broadband. Through this technology, the included router can receive more data streams simultaneously from U Mobile’s ULTRA5G network, resulting in faster data speeds. U Mobile says that, compared to conventional 4×4 MIMO configurations, the technology can deliver speed gains of between 20% and 100% while also “providing greater capacity when multiple devices are connected” simultaneously.
Meanwhile, the ULTRA Home 5G Pro comes with an ULTRA Performance WiFi 7 5G-A Router. The router is designed to take advantage of the service’s 8×8 MIMO 5G-A connectivity and also supports WiFi 7 Multi-Link Operation (MLO). The latter allows compatible devices to maintain multiple WiFi connections at the same time, which U Mobile says can help deliver high-speed connectivity across larger areas.
Coinciding with the launch of the ULTRA Home 5G Pro service, U Mobile is also introducing its AI-Powered Game Turbo feature, which is designed to optimise gaming traffic in real time and improve responsiveness during gameplay. The company says the feature supports PC, console, and mobile games, although it did not elaborate on exactly how it works.
According to the FAQ, the ULTRA Home 5G Pro is currently available in West Malaysia from RM98 per month, excluding applicable taxes. Consumers can also opt for the RM128 plan, which includes a sooka Premium subscription that can be used on up to three devices, including one TV, with the subscription stated to be worth RM80.10.
