Leaks of the Google Pixel Watch 5 from last month already showed what it would look like, and to some degree, its spec sheet. A more recent leak sheds light on some of the features that you can expect from the smartwatch made by the internet search giant. These come via reliable leakster Evan Blass, with shots of different functions that the wearable will provide. Of course, these images look like they belong in marketing materials as well, and there are others of a similar nature that don’t showcase health monitoring functions.
The first health-related image shown is blood oxygen monitoring, which is pretty standard for a smartwatch these days. Then there’s a notification for atrial fibrillation, which is obviously an extension of heart rate monitoring. Following that are two images showing the sleep monitoring function of the Google Pixel Watch 5. One is a more detailed chart of a single night’s sleep pattern, while the other is a simpler notification on the watch itself.
Beyond the passive monitoring stuff, the next set of images show the Google Pixel Watch 5’s ability to track an outdoor run, putting its GPS functionality to work. There’s a map showing your route, and your pace. Finally, the images also show the ability for you to ask Gemini questions like the way steps impact sleep, as well as chat about certain insights like heart rate variability.
All in all, there’s nothing particularly out of the ordinary in the showcased feature set. But as with the Pixel phones, it’s probably safe to expect Google to give the Pixel Watch 5 better Gemini functionality than other Android smartwatches out there. As to whether or not that’s really the case, we’ll probably find out on 12 August, when this year’s batch of Pixel products get launched.
