While touchscreens have become the norm for modern smartphones, there remains a market for devices with physical keypads. For those users, HMD has quietly introduced the Nokia 215 Chat feature phone in Malaysia
While it may look similar to the Nokia 215 4G from 2024, the new model comes with several upgrades. Most notably, it supports video calling through HMD’s Xpress Chat service. Users can also send text messages, participate in group chats, share images, exchange voice messages, and use emojis through the platform.
Outside of messaging, it also comes with pre-installed cloud apps, which support apps like YouTube, YouTube Music, Google Maps, social media platforms, and games. Another notable addition is the inclusion of generative AI capabilities.
According to the device’s official Shopee listing, users can use voice commands to control media playback, turn on the flashlight, place calls, and perform other functions. The company also says users can interact with the assistant conversationally and ask it questions, similar to other AI chatbots.
Spec-wise, the phone comes with the usual 2.8-inch QVGA display and 32GB of storage. For the battery, it comes with a removable 1,450mAh that recharges with a USB-C port. Other details include dual SIM 4G support, Bluetooth 5.0, FM radio, MP3 player, and a 3.5mm headphone jack. Lastly, it comes with an IP54 dust and splash resistance rating.

Nokia 215 Chat is available in two colour options: black and red. HMD says the phone retails for RM199. However, the Nokia Mobile Flagship Store on Shopee lists the device at RM218.90. Regardless of price, customers will receive a 12-month supplier warranty alongside their device.
