Anker has released some new audio products under its Soundcore sub-brand. The Liberty 5 Pro series comprises two models, specifically the Pro and Pro Max. Touted as “earbuds that think”, the devices pack the company’s new proprietary Thus AI chip, enabling on-device intelligent features.
In terms of design, the Liberty 5 Pro and Liberty 5 Pro Max differ from their predecessors. The new models sport a stubbier, more chunky look. And like the regular Liberty 5, these buds get an IP55 rating for dust and water resistance.
Internally, the duo packs 9.2 mm drivers with Dolby Atmos support. Meanwhile, adaptive ANC is handled by a system of eight microphones and AI processing. Similarly, the TWS earbuds rely on these mics to enable clear calls. That said, this feature takes it a step further by leveraging two bone conduction sensors. The AI chip then cross-references these inputs for more precise isolation.
Other than that, the buds feature Bluetooth 6.1 connectivity and can pair with multiple devices simultaneously. For hands-free operation, the devices support voice control with 20 built-in commands.
On the subject of battery life, the Liberty 5 Pro series offers up to 6.5 hours of playback on a single charge. Worth noting that this is with ANC enabled. If you have all the smart features turned on, the battery life gets cut down to just four hours. That said, a quick five-minute charge with the case will give you four hours of use. Speaking of which, the case can stretch the battery life to 28 hours maximum.
Furthermore, the charging case is where the two models differ. For the regular Pro, the case has a 0.96-inch-inch TFT touchscreen for adjusting ANC settings. Meanwhile, the case for the Pro Max boasts a 1.78-inch AMOLED display. Other than allowing users to fiddle with the settings, this case comes with an AI voice recording feature that can store up to 12 hours of audio. This feature also includes transcriptions and summaries, which are all handled on-device with no internet connection required.
Both the Anker Soundcore Liberty 5 Pro and Pro Max are available in Malaysia through its online stores, including Shopee. As for pricing, the Pro retails for RM699, while the Pro Max costs RM899.
