CelcomDigi has announced its own collaboration with Amazon Web Services (AWS) which may be familiar news if you’ve been keeping up with our local telco announcements at MWC 2024. And in the same vein, this collaboration has the creation of generative AI solutions as its primary focus, with the tools aimed at streamlining operations and improving user experience.

To do that, CelcomDigi will be making use of Amazon Bedrock to first come up with an AI Sandbox. The telco’s employees will then be using said sandbox to develop generative AI tools that can be integrated into the company’s operations in various aspects. This ranges from internal ones like HR, legal and finance to more outward-facing elements like customer service. On the former, CelcomDigi intends to integrate its existing knowledge-based AI chatbot with Amazon Bedrock to make work processes smoother.

As for the latter, the telco also aims to develop and implement Bahasa Melayu language algorithms via the Amazon Titan and Anthropic Claude Large Language Models (LLMs) of Amazon Bedrock. This will then result in “chatbots to communicate with its linguistically and culturally diverse customer base”. The company will also be exploring “personalised generative AI use cases” for both business and consumers.

This is one of a few partnership that CelcomDigi has announced in a very short period of time. The telco has also recently agreed to share 100 Multi-Operator Core Network (MOCN) sites with U Mobile. There’s also the MoU signing with ZTE to showcase what 5G-Advanced can do.
