Apart from its refreshed ROG Zephyrus G14 and G15, ASUS also made the arrival of its refreshed ROG Flow X13 official. Like the two Zephyrus models, this year’s X13 boasts several improvements over its predecessor.
But let’s start with what ASUS has retained with the 2nd generation X13. Firstly, the touchscreen display seems to have remained the same, as have its resolution options; you still have a choice between a WUXGA Full HD+ panel with a maximum refresh rate of 120Hz or a 4K+ WQUXGA at 60Hz. The good news is, regardless of choice, they’re still Pantone Validated.
Additionally, the display size of the X13 also remains the same at 13.4-inches, along with its 16:10 aspect ratio.
Naturally, the X13’s also retains its ability to transform into forms beyond the standard laptop mode. This includes the tent mode, display mode, and tablet mode. As for I/O ports, you still get the same number of ports that also include the XG Mobile interface.
Moving on to the hardware, the X13 will be available in two SKUs, but regardless of that, both of them will be equipped with an AMD Ryzen 7 6800HS mobile CPU. For the base model, additional specifications include 16GB LPDDR5 RAM, a 512GB NVMe Gen4 SSD, and an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050 discrete GPU.
The top-tier X13 model comes with double the amount of LPDDR5 RAM and storage capacity, and the GPU is an RTX 3050 Ti that shares the same amount of graphics memory as its non-Ti brother. While it’s still not the most powerful GPU on NVIDIA’s list, it is a worldly improvement over the GTX 1650 that the 1st generation X13 was equipped with.
There are, at current, a couple of drawbacks if you’re planning on purchasing the top-of-the-line SKU of the refreshed X13. While the base model can be purchased separately, you can only get the the one with the RTX 3050 Ti as part of a bundle with the new Radeon RX 6850M XT-powered XG Mobile eGPU. Further, the display for this model is limited to 4K60Hz too. And no, there is currently no option being offered by ASUS, where you can purchase the XG Mobile separately.
The ASUS ROG Flow X13 2022 is already available and starts at RM6599 for the base model alone. As for the X13 bundle, that will set consumers back at RM13999.
