Asus Malaysia has confirmed that its special edition Xbox Ally X 20 handheld is coming into the country, and that preorders for it will be opening up soon. We say soon because, well, the company still hasn’t locked in on an exact date.
Asus Malaysia also hasn’t given a precise price for the handheld, but, as we’ve noted in an earlier report, it will likely retail upwards of RM5,000, given that the SRP of the standard Xbox Ally X still officially retails for RM4,299. On that note, the company has confirmed that you will be able to purchase the handheld and the ROG XREAL R1 Edition 20 Gaming AR Glasses separately, or as part of a bundle, confirming our earlier report that the brand won’t only sell both items as part of a bundle.
Asus Malaysia is planning on making it worth your while, should you choose to purchase the Xbox Ally X 20 and the XREAL R1 Edition 20 as a bundle. Specifically, it’ll include a special Killswitch casing from dbrand, complete with all the gold and black accents that are also present on the device itself, including the joystick covers. It will also include a special Pelican Protector Case that sports the iconic ROG labels and latches, plus a 20th anniversary badge and a 68W charger.
As per our hands on, the Xbox Ally X 20 is nearly identical to its non-20th anniversary edition, save for a few upgrades. For starters, the display is larger at 7.4-inch and is now an OLED panel instead of IPS. Other changes include Tunnel Magnetoresistance (TMR) joysticks, a rotatable D-Pad, the Xbox button in its iconic green, stiffer shoulder buttons and triggers, and a microSD Express slot, making it the second handheld to support the medium, after the Nintendo Switch 2.
Internally, the Xbox Ally X 20 remains the same. By that, that includes the same AMD Ryzen AI Z2 Extreme SoC, 24GB LPDDR5X RAM, and 1TB of PCIe 4.0 storage. Even the battery capacity remains the same at 80Whr.
