The Nintendo Switch has become a success story for the company, as units are snatched left and right of store shelves. So much so, Nintendo has said that it will be ramping up production in the next fiscal year starting in April 2018.
Nintendo is planning to make 25 to 30 million more units to meet the demand of consumers. In fact, the company is monitoring the year-end holiday sales to see if it needs to produce even more for the global market.
As of now, Nintendo has built over eight million units of the Switch console (based on the last earning reports from the company). The company is adjusting its forecast for total sales of the Nintendo Switch to 14 million units by the end of the year. This is a big milestone for Nintendo as it will surpass the total sales of the previous console, the Wii U, which sold 13.56 million in its five year lifespan.
The console is a hit with many gamers – both casual and hardcore alike. In fact, we reviewed the Nintendo Switch ourselves and found it is a great console to invest in. With new games coming this holiday season, this could be Nintendo’s best year ever for home console sales.
