U Mobile has finally taken the wraps off its brand new prepaid pack – the U Mobile Unlimited Power Prepaid. The new prepaid pack from U Mobile is definitely one of the most competitive starter packs available in the market right now. It costs only RM8.50, and comes preloaded with RM5 airtime, 200MB of high speed internet, 1GB of free basic internet, and free 10 minutes call daily to U Mobile numbers. But the most interesting feature of them all is without a doubt, the brand new U Mobile App-Onz.
App-Onz is a new service from U Mobile that offers unlimited data for some of the most popular social networks available in the market: Facebook, Instagram and Twitter. You can share, upload and view posts from these networks without having to worry about your data quota at all.
Fortunately, App-Onz isn’t only limited to the new Unlimited Power Prepaid from U Mobile. Like all of its new services, App-Onz is available for most plans from U Mobile be it prepaid or postpaid, and is available to all new and existing subscribers. App-Onz will be available to all customers on Hero Postpaid (U28, P50, P70 and P98), and Broadband Plans.
Existing subscribers will get it automatically from 25 February 2017 onwards, while new postpaid subscribers will enjoy the service immediately upon signing up. As for prepaid users, you will get App-Onz with the new Unlimited Power Prepaid pack, but you will need to top up a minimum of RM10 and above to activate App-Onz; just ensure that your line is active. Existing U Mobile prepaid subscribers can migrate to Unlimited Power Prepaid plan by dialing *118*6*2*3# on your mobile.
As far as we can see, there really isn’t any catches to App-Onz. U Mobile claims that App-Onz offers free unlimited high-speed internet for all Facebook, Instagram and Twitter usage; this applies to all instances of the apps: mobile app, browser, and even share App-Onz on your mobile line by tethering to your friends.
In case you were wondering, yes, App-Onz includes watching videos on Facebook (regardless of video length). Just make sure the videos are hosted on Facebook and are not linked to other sites such as YouTube. As for Fair Usage Policy, U Mobile told us that they offer unlimited high-speed internet for App-Onz, with no hidden terms and conditions.
Do note that App-Onz only offers free data while you are on these services, and does not include browsing of external links/pages not hosted by Facebook. App-Onz is also available for local usage only, and is available for principal lines.
On top of that, U Mobile also revamped its daily and weekly internet plans, offering up to 3x more data than before. Get 1.5GB of data for only RM5 with MB-DAY, or 1GB of weekly data for only RM9 with MBWEEK. These internet plans also come with Music-Onz, unlimited off peak YouTube and also unlimited data for Waze.
This is definitely a very exciting offer from U Mobile. Facebook is one of the most data-consuming apps, especially with auto playing videos (and soon auto playing videos with sound). Instagram also uses a lot of data too since it is a media-centric app, while Twitter can consume quite a lot of data too, especially when all the people you follow tend to share a lot of photos and videos. With the new U Mobile App-Onz, you no longer have to worry about data usage on these platforms.
Together with all the other “Onz” services from U Mobile (Video-Onz and Music-Onz), you are essentially getting a lot of free data for your entertainment needs, while you can keep the rest of your monthly data for all other things. For example, a U28 postpaid plan costs RM28 a month, and comes with 3GB of monthly data, 3GB of Video-Onz data for video streaming apps, unlimited Music-Onz data for streaming on Spotify, Apple Music, and more, and now, unlimited App-Onz data for all Facebook, Instagram and Twitter needs.
