Next Generation MacBook Pro May Feature Touch ID Power Button

Apple’s MacBook Pro lineup has not been refreshed for quite some time now; the last time the laptops were equipped with new pieces of hardware was back in March 2015. For this very reason, many are expecting the next generation MacBook Pros to be…well, impressive. According to a trustworthy source, the upcoming laptops may feature a Touch ID power button.

Other than revealing that the new MacBook Pros may have a Touch ID power button, the source – who contacted 9to5Mac – did not reveal anything else. The source did, however, reaffirm the fact that the upcoming MacBook Pros will come with an OLED touch bar, which has already been rumoured a few months back.

Although this latest leak did not shed much light on the new MacBook Pros, it does indicate that Apple is truly revamping the lineup. Previous rumour has also suggested that there will be a new 13-inch variant of the new MacBook, while the MacBook Air laptops will be positioned as entry-level offerings.

It’s certainly intriguing to see Apple integrating a fingerprint sensor in a laptop, but it’s not exactly a new thing. Regardless, it will be interesting to see how Apple would take advantage of the technology – that is, assuming that this leak is accurate. We will find out ourselves in the fourth quarter of 2016, which is when the new lineup of MacBooks is said to be introduced.
