Huawei’s P9 series of smartphones has been launched for quite some time now, but the P9 Plus will only be available in Malaysia next week on 10 June. Surprisingly enough, another variant of the Huawei P9 may be made available here soon as well.

As usual, we went through SIRIM’s database when we stumbled upon a particularly interesting device with the model number “EVA-L29” registered under Huawei Malaysia. After doing a quick search on Google, we found out that this device is none other than the Huawei P9 Deluxe.

Just as its name suggests, the P9 Deluxe is a higher-end variant of the Huawei P9. However, these differences only boil down to storage and RAM: the P9 Deluxe has twice the amount of storage at 64GB along with 4GB of RAM – the regular P9 only has 3GB of RAM.

Other specifications of the P9 Deluxe are similar to the standard edition P9. These include a 5.2-inch 1920 x 1080 IPS display, a Kirin 955 processor, an 8MP front-facing shooter, as well as a 3,000mAh battery. Of course, the P9 Deluxe also comes with the “Leica-certified” dual 12MP rear cameras, much like the P9 Plus.

At the time of this writing, we have not received any information from Huawei Malaysia regarding a new variant of the Huawei P9, let alone details on pricing and availability of said device. However, seeing how the bigger and more feature-packed P9 Plus retails at RM2,599, the P9 Deluxe may cost less than this – that is, if it will be introduced in Malaysia.
