British phone brand Nothing has announced a price drop for the Phone (3). The phone has had its price lowered before, and for it to happen again is surprising, but certainly welcome. Granted, it’s not the newest phone in the company’s catalogue – that would be the (4a) line – but it’s always nice to see the pricier phone getting said price lowered.
According to the announcement, the Nothing Phone (3) with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage has gone from RM2,999 to RM2,599. It’s worth pointing out that this particular configuration launched with a RM3,299 price tag back in July last year. Then there’s the 16GB + 512GB variant, which launched at RM3,799, then went down to RM3,499, and is now at RM2,999. The company says that these price changes are effective from today onwards, so it doesn’t sound like a temporary discount.
What is a temporary benefit though is the Nothing Merchandise Set that comes with purchases “across all participating sales channels”, while stocks last. The brand does not describe them specifically, but from the accompanying images, there’s a cap, a strap and a drawstring bag that looks to be made with more premium materials than most others.
Beyond the lowered price for the Phone (3), the company has also announced that users of the device can also now get access to the Nothing OS 5.0 Beta. This is said to introduce “a more cohesive visual identity through the new Geist typeface, redesigned icons, refined layouts and smoother motion throughout the interface”. The new operating system version is also noted to provide “faster app launches, more responsive scrolling and touch interactions, enhanced multitasking and redesigned Bluetooth controls in Quick Settings. Users can also separate Notifications and Quick Settings into dedicated spaces for a cleaner and more intuitive experience”.
