iCAUR first launched the rear wheel drive (RWD) version of the 03 SUV last year. At the time, the electric SUV was brought in fully assembled, but today, the company has announced that it has commenced local assembly for the EV. This follows the local assembly of the Intelligent Wheel Drive (iWD, 4WD) version back in May. Though at the time, the brand did say that it would be doing the same for the RWD model later”.
In case you missed it, the iCAUR 03 RWD features a motor that outputs 135 kW and 220 Nm, with a century sprint time of 10.5 seconds and a top speed of 150 km/h. Power is provided by a 65.7 kWh Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) battery, which translates to an NEDC range of up to 426km. It also supports DC charging of up to 80 kW and AC charging of 6.6 kW.
Inside, the iCAUR 03 RWD has a 9.2-inch digital instrument cluster and a 15.6-inch infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay support. The rest of the interior features faux leather upholstery, powered and ventilated seats for the front and rear passengers, and an eight-speaker sound system. Safety features include six airbags, and a Level 2 ADAS suite which includes Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB), Drive Away Info (DAI), Front Collision Warning (FCW), Rear Collision Warning (RCW), and Traffic Jam Assist (TJA), among others.
It’s worth noting that, despite the iCAUR 03 RWD being locally assembled, its price will not be changing – at least not much – for better or worse. The company says that it will cost RM119,740 on-the-road without insurance, which is just a smidge off the RM119,800 that we saw last year. Either way, the company says that the first batch of the locally assembled 03 RWD will reach customers next month, and is currently available in limited supply.
