It’s day two of Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Summit 2026, and one of today’s focuses is the launch of its Snapdragon Sound Elite Gen 2 platform. The audio platform is the next-generation audio platform, designed and enhanced to weave itself into this generation of personal AI through audio accessories.
Audio fidelity is still a core focus of the Sound Elite Gen 2, but as mentioned, the platform is designed to be more personally interwoven into personal AI. In broad strokes, the platform combines Snapdragon Sound, aptX Lossless, Expanded Personal Area Network Technology (XPAN), and advanced audio processing technologies.
Other features of the Sound Elite Gen 2 platform include micro-power Wi-Fi, and Advanced Bluetooth connectivity. Additionally, the platform introduces a new Advanced ANC system that automatically adapts to the fit, movement, and noise type, from the moment you shove the accessory into your ears.
That shrinkage in size is a point Qualcomm is placing emphasis on; Sound Elite Gen 2 is designed to deliver up to double the AI capabilities of its predecessors, while also consuming 40% less power and consuming 30% less space in its design and construction.
Qualcomm is also partnering up with audio brand Cleer, testing a new audio accessory that combines the cameras built directly into their earbuds. Unfortunately, that’s all the details they were willing to share about it. Well, that, and the cameras inside the earbuds aren’t meant to function in the same way as eyewear, but more as an “audio aid” of sorts.
As for when we could expect other new audio products equipped with the Sound Elite Gen 2 platform, Qualcomm didn’t mention specific dates. That said, it is likely that we’ll start seeing such products starting next year, with brands such as Sennheiser (among others) leading the charge.
