TVs come in all shapes and sizes, but most are either mounted on a wall or placed on a fixed stand. Hisense, however, is taking a different approach with its new RoamView, a touchscreen display that can be moved around your home on a wheeled stand.
The new display is the company’s latest addition to its Lifestyle Series and is designed to offer an alternative to the conventional viewing experience. Its main selling point is the flexibility to move the display from one room to another, allowing users to watch content wherever they want, including outdoors.
While a TV on wheels is indeed an oddity, it is not entirely unheard of. What perhaps sets the RoamView apart, however, is its rechargeable battery, which is built into the stand and allows the display to operate without being tethered to a power outlet.
Hisense claims that the RoamView’s 15,000mAh cell can provide up to 10 hours of use. Furthermore, it also comes with some fast charging capabilities, allowing it to reach maximum battery capacity in around three hours.
Another selling point of the device is its flexibility. With the included stand, Hisense says users can adjust the display’s height by up to 30cm, rotate it by 180 degrees, and tilt the panel between -20 and +40 degrees. The display can also be detached from the stand for easier portability, although it needs to be connected directly to a power source when used this way.
Specs-wise, the RoamView comes with a 32-inch 4K screen that uses an ELED (Edge LED) panel with built-in touch functionality. Hisense says that it is powered by a MediaTek Genio 1200 SoC, which is paired with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. The official Hisense website also says that the device uses two 400cc stereo speakers for a “wide, room-filling soundstage”. There’s also a WideView camera for video calls, while a physical camera shutter can be used to maintain privacy when the camera is not in use.
In terms of connectivity, it comes with Bluetooth 5.3, Wi-Fi 6, HDMI 2.1, and USB 3.0. It also supports Wireless Cast, allowing users to mirror their phone, laptop, or tablet onto the display. For software, it runs on Android, although the exact Android version is not specified on the regional Hisense product page.
Of course, like most devices built today, the RoamView comes with its own set of AI-powered features. Hisense says its built-in AI enables voice control functionality, allowing users to search for content, launch apps, control playback and perform other actions using their voice. The display also comes with an AI Light Sensor that can automatically adjust its brightness based on the ambient lighting in the room.
We reached out to Hisense, and a representative confirmed that the RoamView is now available in Malaysia for RM5,699. While the TV does not appear to be available for purchase through Hisense’s website at the time of writing, interested buyers can use the company’s store locator to find nearby physical retailers and check for availability.
