It’s been a while since PlayStation announced the Pulse Elite wireless headset. Recently, the Sony videogames subsidiary announced two wireless headsets, but with a naming convention that makes that previous one seem a bit out of place. One of the new headsets is simply called the Pulse, and the other is called the Pulse Edge, leaning into the name of its Pro controller. The feature set of the two reflects this distinction of base and Pro model as well.
To start, both the PlayStation Pulse and Pulse Elite support dual connectivity, with support for Bluetooth and the PlayStation Link 2.4 GHz connection, the dongle for which comes in the box. They both come in White and Midnight Black. And that’s about all that the two headsets have in common.
Onto their differences, the standard PlayStation Pulse wireless headset has four magnets per planar driver, while the Pulse Edge has eight. The former has an integrated mic with AI Noise Rejection, but the latter makes use of a boom mic that’s detachable. For volume control, the former only has a general volume control, while the latter benefits from also having one for in-game audio and chat balance. The Edge model also comes with a carrying case, while the base model does not.

With all that in mind, it’s more than likely that the PlayStation Pulse Edge will cost significantly more than the base model Pulse headset. That being the case, the exact difference in price is not known yet, as the company only said that the standard Pulse “will launch in select markets starting this holiday season”, while the Edge version will launch in early 2027 instead. The company will likely announce more details as we get closer to the actual launch, with those specific to Southeast Asia coming in a separate blog post.
