Bose launched the Sport Open Earbuds back in 2021, only to discontinue the product just a few years after. Now, it looks like the brand may be giving the audio device a second shot, with a new version possibly launching sometime in the near future. A recent listing on the SIRIM database indicates that the earbuds may be landing on our shores soon. Around the same time, a leak revealed a few details on the device.
The entry on the SIRIM database shows that the Sport Open Earbuds gained approval fairly recently, on 9 September 2026. As always, no further information can be gleaned from the listing alone. For that, we can turn our attention to the aforementioned leak, which leaves little to the imagination.
This leak originates from the German publication WinFuture. As per the report, the earbuds will be getting a significant redesign. While the device will apparently retain an open-ear form factor, it will forgo the ear hooks in favour of a clip-on build. This soft and flexible cuffed design will apparently offer a secure, comfortable fit. Furthermore, the buds will feature an IP54 rating for dust and splash resistance. Based on the attached images, the device will come in multiple colour options, including black with blue accents, as well as green.
Looking beyond appearances, the buds will reportedly offer “rich open audio” and feature a Stereo Mode, with no noise cancelling on board. This shouldn’t be too surprising, given that this is the trade-off for open-ear designs. Beyond that, the device may feature SpeechClarity Tech for improved call quality. Other than that, the leak mentioned support for Google Fast Pair and multipoint connectivity. Meanwhile, battery life is said to reach seven hours, though this will drop to just four hours with Auto Volume enabled. Furthermore, the case will support wireless charging.
Of course, it goes without saying that leaks should be taken with a grain of salt, since the veracity of the information is unconfirmed. For now, Bose has not made any mention of the new Sport Open Earbuds, so it’s unclear when the device will actually make its official debut.
