Huawei has announced new additions to its more budget-friendly nova line of phones in the form of the nova 16s and 16s Pro. GSMArena reports that these were launched in its home market of China as simply the 16 and 16 Pro, and the “s” in the name denotes variants of the same phones going to outside markets instead.
The Huawei nova 16s sports a 6.68-inch OLED 120Hz Full HD+ display, a Kirin 8020 chipset and a pretty large 7,000 mAh battery that supports 100W charging. The company does not list the amount of memory that it has, but storage space options are listed as 256GB and 512GB. It sports two 50MP cameras at the back, one of them providing a 3.3x periscope zoom, and another 50MP snapper in front. On the software side of things, the phone runs EMUI 16.0.
Then there’s the Pro model, which gets upsized to a 6.84-inch form factor, with a very slightly higher resolution. It runs the Kirin 9010S chipset, with the same storage options and battery as the base model. The OS is also shared between the two, naturally. For its cameras, the Huawei nova 16s Pro gets an additional 200MP main camera to complement the 50MP pair, though the periscope zoom has been pushed further to 3.7x. Nothing is changed for the front camera setup.
Despite the apparent global launch, it doesn’t look like a price has been attached to either the Huawei nova 16s or the 16s Pro. The report mentions that those details, as well as their availability, will be revealed “soon”. It’s also not listed in the SIRIM database, at least not yet. With that in mind, if these phones do eventually make it to our shores, it will be a while before that happens.
