Rumours of a Huawei wide-screen non-folding smartphone began circulating at the start of the year. As it turns out, the device in question is real, and has already made its debut in China. Called the Pura X View, the handset is the first of its kind so far. Design-wise, it looks a lot like its foldable counterparts, with a horizontal camera bar on the rear.
Of course, the main highlight is its wide display, which offers a 16:9.5 aspect ratio. This screen uses a 6.39-inch OLED panel with a 2,232 x 1,320 pixel resolution, a peak brightness of 6,500 nits, and 2,160Hz PWM dimming. Furthermore, the phone’s 1.05mm bezels allow for a 96.1% screen-to-body ratio. Overall, the Pura X View appears to have a smaller display compared to a conventional 6.9-inch phone with a 19.5:9 screen. However, the brand claims that this model has a larger display area, making it suitable for streaming movies and gaming.
Aside from the unorthodox shape, the device boasts a slim and light build in four distinct finishes. It measures 6.68mm thick and weighs 201g. Despite this, it packs a pretty hefty 7,000mAh battery. The handset also features 12GB of RAM, with storage options ranging from 256GB to 1TB. As for software, it runs on HarmonyOS 7.0.
At the moment, this is about all the information the phone maker has revealed. That said, leaks have suggested that the Pura X View comes with a Kirin 9-series chipset, with one Weibo tipster claiming it to be the Kirin 9030s. Beyond that, it is said to feature a triple 50MP camera setup on the rear, much like the Pura X Max.
The Huawei Pura X View will be available in China starting next week, 28 August 2026. Ahead of this, the company has allowed customers to pre-reserve the phone, although pricing details remain under wraps. That being said, the brand has not disclosed any details on global availability, so it’s unclear whether it will land on our shores.
