The new Huawei MatePad Air (2026) is now officially available in Malaysia. Weighing just 509g and measuring 5.3mm thick, the new device is positioned as one of the brand’s lighter and slimmer tablets in its class. It features a full-metal body with a narrow 4.69mm bezel, and is available in Airy Blue, White and Sakura Pink.
The MatePad Air features a 12-inch OLED PaperMatte Display with a 2,800 x 1,840 resolution, 275 PPI pixel density and a 144Hz refresh rate. Huawei describes it as an upgraded ultra-clear display, with a peak brightness of up to 1,200 nits.
Under the hood, the tablet comes with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage, although Huawei has not specified the processor powering the device. It also features a 3D cooling system with a custom vapour chamber.
Powering the tablet is a 10,100mAh battery with support for 66W Huawei SuperCharge. Huawei claims that it can provide up to 16 hours of video playback on a single charge.
For photography, the MatePad Air has a 50MP f/1.8 rear camera and a 12MP f/2.4 front-facing camera. Audio is handled by a six-speaker array, while the tablet is also compatible with Huawei’s Smart Magnetic Keyboard and M-Pencil Pro accessories.
On the software side, the MatePad Air runs on HarmonyOS and comes with PC-level WPS Office 3.0, which supports Microsoft Office file formats as well as AI-powered features. It also includes GoPaint for digital drawing and Huawei Notes for note-taking, with the latter supporting AI features.
The Huawei MatePad Air (2026) is priced at RM3,999 in Malaysia and is now available through HUAWEI Experience Stores and the company’s official online channels, including its official website as well as its official stores on Shopee, Lazada and TikTok Shop.
Each purchase also comes with gifts worth up to RM4,503. These consist of a RM500 voucher, Huawei Smart Magnetic Keyboard, Huawei M-Pencil Pro, Huawei Wireless Mouse, WPS Office with a one-year WPS AI subscription, Huawei Notes (AI), and Huawei Premium Service.
