We previously reported that Samsung seems to be dabbling in different earphone styles. If the leaked images are to be believed, we could expect a TWS with an ear hook design and the brand’s first clip-on buds. Now, another batch of images surfaced online, this time hinting at the tech giant’s possible return to developing over-ear headphones.
Like before, these images came from SamMobile, which claims that it has also discovered strings of code referring to the upcoming audio product in the Galaxy Wearable app. Moreover, these codes also confirmed that headphones will come with Bluetooth connectivity. 6.0 to be exact.
What We Know So Far
The publication says Samsung internally refers to these headphones as the “Galaxy H1.” Of course, this is just a placeholder name, so the final name will likely be different on release. Perhaps the official name will be revealed as we approach the product’s official release.
SamMobile speculates that the project is still in early development and is far from launch. Hence, it predicts that we expect these over-ear headphones sometime in early 2027, though that may change down the line.
Speculated Features
Though most of the details are still unknown, that doesn’t mean that we’re completely in the dark. The source says that “it is logical to expect” features like the aforementioned Bluetooth 6.0 connectivity, SSC UHQ audio codec, ANC, ambient sound mode, AI assistant integration, Auto Switch support, and a longer battery life compared to the traditional Samsung buds.
Of course, it’s worth noting that all of these details are based on leaks. As such, it is best to take them with a healthy dose of salt. That said, if the timeline is true and we might see it in early 2027, we might hear more details about the upcoming product sooner than we realise.
A Brief History Of Samsung Headphones
As mentioned earlier, this isn’t Samsung’s first attempt at releasing over-ear audio equipment. If you may recall, the tech giant previously released its Level Over headphones back in 2014. It was a bulky pair that featured 50mm dynamic drivers, ANC and touch controls. According to PCMag, the headphones had a launch price of US$349.99 (~RM1,427).
Samsung also launched the Level On headphones, which were a leaner version of the Level Over, with a “compact style” and a 40mm dual-layered diaphragm. Afterwards, the company launched a Wireless Pro variant of the headphones in 2015.
The tech giant ended the product line due to poor market performance, which experts attribute to its high initial price point. Since then, the company has focused on developing in-ear audio products. However, if recent reports are true, another shift in how the company handles its audio gear may be on the horizon.
