Samsung has finally rolled out the new One UI 7 update to its Galaxy S24 series, Galaxy Z Fold6, and Galaxy Z Flip6 smartphones. Most importantly, it is also available to download by users of these aforementioned devices in Malaysia.
This was first brought to light by X user Isaac Chong (aka @zacaaron), who shared about the availability of One UI 7 for his Samsung Galaxy S24 yesterday evening. Using our own Galaxy S24+, Galaxy Z Fold6 and Galaxy Z Flip6, we can indeed verify that the update has been distributed locally.
While later than initially planned, the update managed to arrive this month, as promised by the company via its updated release schedule. The reason for the delay, at least according to unofficial sources, is allegedly caused by a major bug that was only discovered after One UI 7’s first rollout in South Korea. It remains unclear whether Samsung has fully resolved the issue, but given that global distribution has resumed, it is likely that the problem has been addressed.
To recap, Samsung’s One UI 7 brings a major refresh to Galaxy devices, focusing on AI integration, refined design, and enhanced user personalisation. It introduces Galaxy AI features like natural language processing and Cross App Actions, enabling users to carry out tasks across multiple apps with a single prompt. The camera app gains smart editing tools, including AI-generated slow motion from regular footage. Other new additions include Camera Continuity for seamless photo transfers between devices, and Now Brief, an AI-powered widget that learns user habits to offer relevant updates and suggestions.
The interface has also been overhauled with smoother animations, a cleaner layout, and more cohesive use of colours and shapes across system menus, notifications, and controls. New features like the Now Bar offer real-time lock screen updates for navigation, media, and events, while revamped home and lock screens provide deeper customisation.
For Samsung Galaxy S24 series, Galaxy Z Fold6 and Galaxy Z Flip6 users, you can download One UI 7 via your phone’s Settings, scroll all the way down until you see “Software Update”, tap it, and then select “Download and Install”. File sizes will vary depending on phone model, but expect a large download size nevertheless. Of course, a Wi-Fi connection is advised if you don’t want to use up your mobile data.
As for those on older supported Samsung models, you still have to wait until May onwards for the One UI 7 update to be made available.
