Maybank has issued a notice informing users that its MAE app will only support iPhones running iOS 14 and above starting from 31 March 2025. Users with devices operating on versions prior to it will no longer be able to use the app beyond this date.

Additionally, from 31 March 2025, users on older iOS versions will stop receiving updates for the MAE app. The bank notes that while they may still be able to use the app temporarily, continued access and functionality cannot be guaranteed after this date.

Maybank MAE Down - 24 Feb 23

For users with older devices that are unable to update to iOS 14 or higher, Maybank advises switching to a compatible mobile device to continue using the MAE app. However, note that installing the MAE app on a new device will require reactivating Secure2u at a Maybank ATM, which comes with a mandatory 12-hour cooling period.

Here are the devices that do not support iOS 14 or iPadOS 14:

iPhones:

  • iPhone 6
  • iPhone 6 Plus
  • iPhone 5s

Note: The iPhone 6s, 6s Plus, and SE (1st gen) supports iOS 14.

iPads:

  • iPad mini 4 (only supported up to iPadOS 12)
  • iPad Air 2 (only supported up to iPadOS 12)
  • iPad mini 3 and older
  • iPad Air (1st gen)
  • iPad (5th gen) and older

Note: The iPad Air 3, iPad mini 5, and iPad 6th gen and newer supports iPadOS 14.

While Maybank2U web access remains available for users, transactions requiring authentication via Secure2u will not be possible without access to the MAE app. This means that users relying solely on the web platform may face limitations when performing banking transactions.
