Touch ‘n Go Digital Sdn Bhd (TNG) is encouraging users to verify their TNG eWallet accounts to enhance security. In a statement released on Monday, the company reminded users of its upcoming mandate requiring eKYC (electronic Know Your Customer) verification, which will take effect on 20 December 2024.

The eKYC process is straightforward, requiring users to upload a photo of their ID card and take a selfie for facial recognition directly through the TNG eWallet app. The company disclosed that out of over 28 million registered users, more than 22 million have already verified their accounts. TNG emphasised that verification is essential to protect its users by preventing fraud, unauthorised access, and the creation of mule accounts.

Unverified users will receive prompts within the app to complete the process. After the deadline, affected accounts will face restrictions on further actions until verification is completed, while accounts that remain unverified for an extended period will eventually be locked. Nevertheless, users can request a refund for any remaining eWallet balances if they choose not to continue using the platform, ensuring their funds remain secure and accessible.
