Gentari has announced a partnership with Mastercard to drive electric vehicle (EV) adoption in the Asia Pacific region. Through a newly inked Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), the companies aim to enhance EV infrastructure with secure digital payment solutions, advertising, and marketing campaigns. This collaboration also focuses on inclusive EV adoption in public transport and supports global carbon reduction goals.

Mastercard brings its expertise in seamless digital payments, with a history of implementing solutions for parking, tolls, and EV charging globally. The company has contributed to establishing universal payment standards for EV charging in Europe, ensuring convenient user experiences. Its newly established partnership with Gentari leverages these capabilities to enhance accessibility and usability in the EV ecosystem in Asia Pacific.

Gentari deputy CEO Shah Yang Razalli highlighted the alignment between Mastercard’s advanced payment technologies and Gentari’s green mobility ambitions. Through its Gentari Go platform, the company connects users to clean energy solutions, including cross-border EV roaming. The partnership is set to improve customer experiences and expand access to green mobility services across the region.

Meanwhile, Country Manager for Malaysia and Brunei at Mastercard, Beena Pothen, emphasised that simplifying EV charging and payment experiences is key to boosting consumer adoption and accelerating the shift to electric vehicles. She highlighted the collaboration with Gentari as part of Mastercard’s commitment to achieving net zero emissions by 2050 while supporting Malaysia’s digitalisation and ESG initiatives.
