Bungie is expanding into the mobile gaming market with the upcoming release of Destiny: Rising for Android and iOS. This new spinoff is being developed by NetEase Games, the company behind Blizzard’s Diablo: Immortal, among other titles. The game will be free to download and play upon launch, offering a new experience set within the Destiny universe.

Destiny: Rising unfolds in a separate timeline from Destiny and Destiny 2, though NetEase assures players they will encounter familiar characters alongside new ones. The game’s narrative is set after the Dark Age, exploring Earth’s recovery after “The Collapse,” a period of civilizational breakdown. Players will traverse this post-apocalyptic world, witnessing humanity’s attempts to rebuild.

In terms of gameplay, NetEase is introducing a third-person perspective, an expansion from the first-person view traditionally used in the franchise. This viewpoint was previously reserved for specific weapons and equipment in Destiny 2. The mobile version will also support smartphone-compatible controllers, offering enhanced control for players who prefer them.

The game will feature both PvE and PvP modes, giving players the opportunity to create clans, add friends, and engage in both cooperative and competitive challenges. Currently, NetEase has opened sign-ups for a closed alpha test, scheduled for next month. Interested players can register on the official website, though the official release date remains unannounced.
