Nothing has officially launched the CMF Phone 1, the first smartphone released under its budget-friendly sub-brand. Unlike its mainstream models, this new handset offers features that allow you to take personal customisation a couple of steps further.

For starters, the CMF Phone 1 lacks Nothing’s transparent design language or the signature Glyph lighting system. Instead, it features an industrial-like minimalist rear panel with a matte finish in black, orange, blue and mint, which you can easily swap out by removing the screws by using the included tools. Additionally, situated at the bottom right corner of the case is the Accessory Point, which can also be unscrewed to attach accessories such as a fold-out stand, card holder or lanyard. Keep in mind that alternate rear cases and add-ons are sold separately.

Display-wise, the Phone 1 packs a flat 6.67 Super AMOLED LTPS panel with 1080 x 2400 pixel resolution, up to 120Hz adaptive refresh rate, 240Hz touch sampling rate, over 16 million colours, and 2000 nits peak brightness. Also featured is an under-display optical fingerprint scanner, AAC linear loudspeaker, and a water resistance rating of IPX2.

Under the hood is a mid-range MediaTek Dimensity 7300 5G chipset, along with a single memory configuration (for the Malaysian market) consisting of 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage, with the latter expandable up to 2TB via microSD. Besides that, the CMF smartphone also features Android 14 via Nothing OS 2.6, a 5,000mAh battery with 33W fast charging and 5W reverse wired charging via USB-C, as well as WiFi 6 and Bluetooth 5.3 connectivity but no NFC.

As for imaging, on the back of the Phone 1 is a dual camera setup comprising a 50MP primary and an unspecified depth sensor, which is also capable of recording up to 4K videos at 30fps, 1080p at up to 60fps, and Slo-mo at 120fps. Flipping over to the front, found within the cutout on its display is a 16MP selfie camera.

The new CMF Phone 1 is slated to go on sale in Malaysia starting 15 July for RM1,099, available via the sub-brand’s official online stores on Shopee and Lazada, as well as its authorised partners such as Yes 5G, DirectD, TMT, Urban Republic, Vivid Concepts, Tac Mobile, and SS Solution. Nothing notes that the device is guaranteed to receive two years of major Android updates and three years of security updates.
