It seems that Sonos is gearing up to launch its first pair of wireless headphones this June. According to a Bloomberg (warning: paywall) report, the company plans on selling said headphones at an SRP of RM449 (~RM2,141), upon availability.
If the rumours are true, then the Sonos headphones would tie in with the brand’s current ecosystem of speakers and soundbars. For that matter, the alleged pricing of the headphones also means that the product will follow suit with the brand’s philosophy of making “premium quality” products for the consumer market.
“This is the beginning of a multi-year product cycle where we expect to reap the rewards of our R&D investments,” Patrick Spence, CEO of Sonos, said on an earnings call in November last year. “This cycle begins with our entry into a new multi-billion dollar category in the second half of the [fiscal] year that will complement our current offerings, delight customers, and drive immediate revenue.”
We’ve covered rumours about the Sonos headphones since 2020 when the rumours began appearing. Additionally, it was unclear if the product in question would be headphones or earbuds but as of the most recent report, it’s shaping up to look more like the former. In any case, there are no further details about the personal audio device as of right now but given the trend, it’s likely that we’ll be hearing more from the brand’s regional distributor, TCAcoustic, as we edge closer to its supposed launch month.
