South Korean company LG has announced a new projector that’s pretty diminutive in stature. In fact, the company goes as far as to say that it’s one of the smallest projectors available. It’s called the LG CineBeam Qube, which does quite a bit more than its size would suggest. Naturally, it’s not without drawbacks.

The LG CineBeam Qube is, despite its name, not quite a cube, measuring in at 135 x 135 x 80mm. Matching is small size is its weight of about 1.49kg, and emphasizing the portability that its size and weight enables is the 360-degree rotating handle. For its actual performance, it can project resolutions of up to 4K, with a screen size of between 50 and 120 inches, with a minimum throw ratio of 1.2. It even with a built-in 3W mini speaker, as well as HDR10 support.

As you’d expect, something this small isn’t without drawbacks, and in the case of the LG CineBeam Qube, it only has an output of 500 ANSI Lumens. Which means that, for one, you would only use it in very dim rooms, with controlled lighting, if any at all. This also means that despite the HDR10 support you probably wouldn’t end up seeing it in action much.

From the way it looks, the LG CineBeam Qube is also being marketed as a sort of “stylish” art object or interior accessory. But in the few images that the company has released about the product, the company has not shown what it would actually look like with its cables plugged in. While the projector also supports inputs consisting of HDMI with eARC and USB-C, there’s no mention of the number of available ports.

For now, there’s no pricing of availability details for the LG CineBeam Qube, for the international or local markets. But the company says that the small projector will be showcased during CES 2024, which will hopefully lead to more available info by then.
