Last month, we saw a report that claimed that Samsung had delayed an extended reality (XR) project following the reveal of the Apple Vision Pro. No other details about the project was brought to light, beyond the delay itself being about one or two quarters. In what may be related to this project, images that is claimed to be a prototype of a Samsung XR headset have appeared online.

These images were initially posted as part of a report by Chinese news site VRtuoluo, which has since been removed. But as Android Authority points out, you can still read the report for yourself if you open it via the Wayback Machine. That being the case though, it’s unclear why the initial report was removed in the first place.

Either way, images of the supposed prototype Samsung XR headset shows that it has four tracking cameras – one on each corner –  as well as dual RGB cameras to let users see through the headset. There is also reportedly a another TOF sensor. On the other side, the report noted that it would feature micro-OLED displays. The now-removed report also draws a comparison to the PICO Neo3, referencing the battery pack that is mounted on the headband. And finally, the report mentions the headset using the Samsung Exynos 2200 chipset, rather than one from Qualcomm.

As mentioned earlier, it’s unclear what the reason is behind the removal of the original article. There could be a multitude of reasons, which includes the possibility that the outlet has decided that its reporting was inaccurate. With all that in mind, it’s important to take all of this with a pinch of salt.
